Right, my dd is 12 today and asked everyone for money for her birthday so she could buy herself an ipod nano, which I took her down to argos to buy this afternoon.

I have downloaded her favourite cds onto itunes but I can not for the life of me figure out how to transfer them from itunes onto the ipod. I have been trying for the last 5 hours and its doing my head in. Can anyone help me please.
Thanks.

You have to synchronise your itunes library with the ipod, ie everything saved in itunes is transferred to the ipod.

You download your tunes to itunes, then you plug your ipod nano in and it 'syncs' you have to have selected 'automatic sync' in the initial pages rather than 'manual sync' it will only sync ticked tunes. Have you downloaded the instruction manual from apple? It's about 50 pages long but you really need it to get the most from your ipod. HTH!

Thanks, I knew someone would help me.
I have given up for tonight, my brain is in overload but I will give it a go tomorrow.
Watch this space, I may need more help.

I have never sync'd my nano.

when you plug it into the usb port on yor computer it asks if you want to register the ipod with that PC, click yes. Then it will be listed on the menu on theleft as FeelingOld's DD's Ipod. Drag the tunes from the library into the Feeling Olds DDs ipod.

If you sync your ipod it means that everytime you plug your ipod in to the computer ALL the songs from your main itunes library will be transferred over. Its fine if you haven;t many songs but i have trillions lol!

Mumofmonsters, I thought that I would have to limit what I downloaded onto itunes but you can 'deselect' the ones that you don't want to be automatically synced and they will still be in your library, so you can pick and choose, if you deselect one, it'll be automatically removed then you could tick it again and it'd be automatically synced back on, magic.....anyone know how to get podcasts though? I subscribed to radio one's one and can't seem to get it to my ipod????

ipods are so hard to put songs on compaired to normal mp3 players

Lazylou · 12/08/2007 21:28

Well I was attempting to charge my ipod nano today and itunes decided to wipe the entire thing. Don't know how to get all my music back on there even though it is all still in the itunes library

LyraBelacqua · 12/08/2007 21:31

Feelingold, if you have an ipod yourself, your itunes will only recognise your ipod. there is a way of getting it to recognise the new ipod as well but I cant remember how. It won't happen just by plugging it in and expecting it to synch.

3Ddonut · 13/08/2007 09:57

Lazylou, are your songs on your library ticked? If they've become deselected your ipod would sync no songs (wipe it) if you tick them and plug it in it should sync again (and put your songs back on) maybe.... HTH!!!!!
