Has anyone moved from Virgin super fast (100mb+) broadband to another provider's 60-100mb - did you notice a difference

I am absolutely fed up of the price increases with Virgin so would like to move. I have fibre here but Virgin seems to be the only provider offering super fast so I'm wondering if I"m going to notice it if I make a change to another provider. We stream tv but don't do gaming.
Has anyone got any experience with (or know anything about ) this?

We have - forced to die to move to non fibre area 😭 - and omg it's hideous. Poor signal. Speed. Lag on gaming and streaming. We've had to get a TV package as we can't stream so well. The virgin prices are mental though.

Thanks becca. So Virgin pretty much has a monopoly on decent speed then?

I think you need to check how big a speed your household really requires.

I threatened to leave because of the price rises and secured a much cheaper offer although I've had to reduce my speed from 200mbs to 100mbs and not noticed any difference in connection speeds.

Suggest you use a comparison site to help determine the offers that may be applicable in your location and take it from there.

We got fed up with virgin and an oversubscribed line (they had the monopoly in our area too) and them refusing to do anything about the poor quality we had. Would never get 150mb and it would drop often to 10mb which was really annoying at peak times . We moved to plus net. Got the BT cable connected again and have up to 75mb which we actually get consistently never drops don't notice the drop in speed. Can happily watch you tube and Netflix/gaming together. Half the price of virgin and plus net are based in Sheffield so I can actually talk to someone who understands me!

Yep - from a line so oversubscribed it slowed to a crawl once the neighbourhood kids got home from school we moved over to Sky. Have a somewhat lower max speed on the current connection but it's a much more consistent speed which I'll take any day.

Depends what you do on it. We changed and it's as fast as it needs to be for us.

I’m
Going through this pain with them as their customer service sucks! I’m on virgin 100mb but my average speeds is 58mb so hoping I can move to one Of the others offering up to 67mb and still maintain my current speed

Only the thought of having to phone the special number and do the Leaving dance (again) is putting me off.

Parky04 · 04/09/2019 19:52

My sons adore virgin media for broadband. They both do online gaming and nothing else compares. They do contribute £25 each a month though.

Grambler What is the special number? Would be helpful to know.
