Apple ID attempt to sign in in China??

Just got a flash up on my iPhone saying someone in somewhere in China (it came up with place name and location on map) is attempting to log in using my Apple ID. It asked me to allow or reject so I clicked reject and then it definitely asked for my passcode before allowing me to change password.

Can't remember if it asked me twice for authentication but now I'm panicking it was a scam? I have since changed my password again but should I be worried about this?

I get emails two or three times a week with receipts for apparent purchases that I’ve never made. My card has never been charged and I think once I don’t click on the link in the email then it’s ok?
I just ignore any of that stuff and I’ve never had a problem.
Maybe give apple a call and see what they say?

Is it not a scam? I get these all the time and delete as I think it's phishing.....

Is your Apple ID the same as you normal email? If so check the following site whether your email address has been compromised. It is a register of emails and passwords compromised by cyber attack. Is so I suggest you start changing emails

It wasn't an email though it just popped up on my screen- I didn't get an email at all.

I'm trying to think of how to explain it- if anyone has an iPhone it's like a box that pops up saying Apple ID log on attempt.

Do you have a reasonably common name? I'm just wondering if it was someone genuinely attempting to access their account but have missed the numbers for example and got yours?

@MarieG10 yea my email has come up on this!! What do I do??

@AnnieOH1 it seems unlikely this would be happening in China 🙈🙈

Alicia. They must have your Apple ID and password but the authentication you have seen has blocked it. You need to change your apple and also email passwords. Do you use the same password on Apple as your email?

Your email showing in the site means a company that probably legitimately had your email and password has been hacked and therefore the hackers have your password. For example mine appeared there and it was My Fitness Pall that was hacked

Change them all but google about best passwords...ie use random characters as we,l as upper and lower case etc
