How do I swap SD cards in my phone for a higher capacity one and backup the photos, etc?

As above. I have a Huawei P9 Lite. It's got an 8GB SD card in it. The card and my phone storage are filling up now. I've bought a new SD card - 64gb but I'm not sure how to swap them, ie. where to put the data from my old SD card.

I don't know whether to backup the data from the current SD card and then copy it onto the new card. I have my photos in Google Photos and I'm not sure how secure they are there. I have Lookout and know there is a backup facility there. Or should I pay for more storage with Google, or use another cloud photo storage facility, or put stuff onto a memory stick. Help!

If all your photos are in Google photos they are safe there. You don't need to do anything to get them on the new SD card. If you have other stuff on the SD card you want to keep you need to back it up. If you have a free backup facility (e.g. Lookout or the ability to backup to a PC) I would use that.

That's so helpful. Thank you.
