Can I get photos from an iPad without all that iTunes malarkey?

I have my DM's iPad. She passed away last year. There are lots of photos on it that are nowhere else. My DF would like the iPad to use and I would like to have the photos safely stored somewhere other than the iPad as he is quite capable of deleting them if he needs more storage!

Mum lost a ton of photos that were allegedly on the iCloud, so I would rather avoid the whole I thing and have them all on something physical as well as stated digitally somewhere reliable.

Any solutions gratefully received.

Have you got a Mac? If so, plug it in and open image capture. Then export from there. If you don't have a mac then, er... I don't know, sorry!

Sandisk make a little flashdrive called an iexpand that plugs into iPads and iPhones

No, though annoyingly I did until a year ago! Thanks anyway.

Anyone else?

Ooh Beetlewing. that sounds promising. Is it obvious what to do once it's plugged in?

You don't need a Mac have you got a laptop? Just plug it in with the Ipad cable and the iPad will show as a drive and you can copy the images.

Get a Dropbox account and transfer them to that - you can then store them on a laptop etc

Platemarking as I have a similar issue, thank you for starting the thread and I hope you get your mum’s photo.

Download Google photos - it exists for iPhone so I assume also ipad. Upload them all to the cloud. Download again on your laptop (I think?) Or just keep them stored in the cloud.

We have an app called FileBrowser with which I can connect to an external networked drive.

You can use it for Dropbox and other file storage too. I did pay a small amount for more functionality, but it's been really useful.

Thanks all. I will have a play this weekend and report back.
