I'm out of contract. Eligible for an upgrade from September. Just noticed that they're still taking the £70 a month.

I don't want an upgrade yet (I usually upgrade immediately) as phone is still fine - but why are they still charging me £70 when I've finished paying for the phone?

Surely the element that's the phone has finished being paid for and I'm now just paying for my data and minutes?

I have another contract that's dh's phone and it's only £17 for unlimited

They will obviously continue to take £70 for as long as you let them, because why not? Your contract isn't laid out as £x to pay off the phone and £y for the service level. Your contract just says £70pm and you got a free phone.

Now the initial period is over you can ask to switch to a sim-only deal (or just the service, and you stick with the handset you have) but you have to initiate it.

Because that's the contract you signed and they are there to make money?

I dont think EE list the phone element separately. You need to give them 1 month notice and negotiate sim only .

Oh fuck. I've literally paid 3 months for nothing. What a TWAT.

Thank you - will call them

Have a look on websites like mobiles.co.uk, you can provably get a far better deal.
