Vacuum advice....Not Dyson

I need a new vacuum, Not a hand held or dyson.
I now live in an apartment so no stairs and have carpet and some very nice new Laura Ashley floor tiles which I don't want to scratch with a rubbish hoover.

Something light and easy to use, recommendations please

I've heard the Morphy Richards Supervac is really good ?anyone got one ?

Try out the supermarket own brand ones. They are cheap and my Tesco one worked a damn sight longer than my branded one.

We have a Bosch that's pretty good. Copes well with carpets etc, make sure you get one with a turbo brush as it makes a huge difference.
It's not particularly light though.
