To replace an IPhone.
Dual SIM card would be beneficial but not essential
Work as a hot spot for mobile internet
Android fine
Second hand fine
£100-£150 budget

Is there such a thing? Or is that an impossible task?

Would need to be able to use email fluently, and also hold insta, Facebook, mumsnet etc. And preferably an adequate camera and open word docs/ PDFs etc.

I just got a Huawei P Smart I think it is called, think it probably ticks all those boxes.

incorruptibledream · 21/10/2018 17:44

For that budget the best possible phone is an iPhone 6s/SE

Android will always be the poor mans Apple.

bumblebee39 · 21/10/2018 18:05

I don't mind having a "poor mans Apple" problem is my phone is on its way out, if I had the money I'd buy a new iPhone/second hand 7/8 or newer but as I don't I'll have a look at androids

I don't think you'll get a dual SIM in the UK for that price.

CruelAndUnusualParenting · 23/10/2018 09:11

The Wileyfox Swift 2 is a decent budget Android at £140. If you don't mind pink you can get one for £100.

I have an original Swift and I've been quite happy with it, but do your own research, read the Swift 2 reviews and see if it might suit you.

I will have a look and see if I can maybe even pick one up second hand? Would rather spend less and have more Xmas money but equally I need a working phone and mine is entirely on the way out...

My Moto G5 has been good, it's an older model now but you should be able to get one in your budget but you might need to do some Google digging for somewhere reputable that sells it. Comes in single and dual SIM versions so make sure you get the right one. There's the newer G5S and G6 models too, worth a look if you see one in budget.

I have a Wilefox Swift 2X and it's been bob on.

DH had one too and has just swapped it for an Honor 9 lite which he prefers

CruelAndUnusualParenting · 25/10/2018 13:10

I forgot to mention that the Swift is dual SIM.

bumblebee39 · 25/10/2018 13:34

Thanks 😊 going to have a look next month. I have managed to negotiate some lower payments etc. And worked on some ways to cut down on Xmas spending and think a phone is worth spending a little bit more on if it can do the things I need it to.
Will still look at second hand though, especially knowing that I myself have sold phones I've only had a few weeks and are in mint condition just because I didn't get on with them...

My husband also has a WileyFox and loves it.

Financial situation has improved so going to stick with IPhone sorry folks... Interesting read but I think I'm an apple gal through and through... Was raised on iPods and the original Apple Macs just don't think I can convert 😢

It's a shame because androids are getting better and better and IPhones are getting more and more expensive but I just can't get the hang of it and have been trying out a few of my friends which just seem unnatural and clunky...

Idk 🙄 I despair of myself
