Do you have the latest technology?

Looking around the flat, I realise that most everything electrical is old in technology terms.

The telly, telephone/answering machine (or does everyone use voicemail now? ), mobile phone, stereo, radio, toaster, etc are all working fine, but are old. The newest thing is the dvd player - but that was purchased only because I could no longer buy/rent vhs copies of anything! Oh - and the laptop is fairly new as computer technology moves so fast that it's necessary to keep relatively up to date. For me - as long as it works, it's alright.

Do you upgrade periodically because you like having all the latest gear, or do you use things until they break/wear out, or simply aren't worth fixing?

I only buy when things break, or we really need them.
DH is the opposite & desperate for a flat screen tv, but I won't let him as our old TV still works perfectly well.

Sometimes I will get DH the latest gadget for birthday or christmas though

i use things until they die. i hate the throwaway culture. though i'm not a gadget person.

So, we're a mixture....just like real life! I've wondered if the dh/dp have been responsible for upgrades as you know what they say about 'boys and their toys'!
