Anyone know anything about TV aerials?

Hi, if anyone could shed any light on this I would be grateful. All our TV channels have suddenly gone snowy! We have an aerial on the roof and TV sockets in most rooms, but just have a TV in the living room and one in the kitchen. No digibox or freeview, just ordinary TV. All working fine until the other day then suddenly snowy channels and interference on BOTH TV's making them unwatchable. Re-tuning the TV's does not help. Do I need to call out an aerial man?? Don't really want the expense but can't see any immediate answer. Thanks in advance!

Here's some ideas:
(1)Have you installed wireless internet access (or have any of your neighbours)
(2) Is there a big bird on your aerial or is your aerial hanging off the roof or in the back garden
(3) Have you checked both aerial cables in the back of the TV.
(4) Have you checked the wire where it comes into the house (usually in the loft) for mouse or bird damage

If none of this helps, you might indeed need to call a man out!

I don't have a TV so I'm going to have a mocking moment here....

Mock!

Thanks!

Thanks for ideas - had my Dad out checking it - no birds, aerial apparently still there and facing the "right" way, yes have checked the cables. We have wireless access but have had it for ages, don't know about neighbours but the problem seems to be all the time not intermittent. Haven't done the loft bit. DH away and anyway is a completely useless twunt god love him with anything electrical. So I guess I will have to send my Dad up in the loft tomorrow!

Wireless broadband would be continous

Well if it worked anyway.

Suspect sending dad onto roof may be your next logical step.

If you do get a new aerial make sure it's digital ready (you might want to consider getting digiboxes - they are getting cheaper all the time) as well

Ha!

Dad went in loft. Sure enough my very dopey DH had accidentally switched off the aerial (apparently there is a switch up there somewhere) whilst ferreting about in the loft for a suitcase the other day.

My Dad now says I owe him 60 quid call out charge!

Hurrah! Now you have to make your dad a cuppa and have some chocolate, you will need the energy for the constant mocking of your DH!
