1/3 of my channels are ok
1/3 of my channels display 'there is a technical fault with this channel please try later'
1/3 of my channels display 'No satellite signal is being received'
I called sky and they have made me turn on turn off check leads etc - outcome - i need a engineer, and that'll cost me £65

Its mainly the channels i watch !! im sure they are doing this on purpose to make money out of me.......

Does any1 have any suggestions???

we also had this with ours - you can actually request a refund on your subscription if your channels aren't working - when we called spoke to a vry snotty woman who told me to do exactly what i had been doing - i said to her i have to do tis unplugging etc every day and she said well you need an engineer for £65

my husband called up later on and said he wanted to cancel (£65 is scandalous) and he said that ntl come out and repair their boxes for free - and that £45 is alot every month when it doesn't work etc

anyway in the end we ended up with a free sky plus box!!

def say you will cancel

gimmiegimmie: only just seen this -

[preens at predictive powers]

(and I so love the technical term of blob on the front of the dish...)

RubberDuck · 13/06/2007 10:09

(really glad you got it for free, too )

GreebosWhiskers · 13/06/2007 10:33

We just cancelled our sky 'cos it's mostly the free channels we watch anyway. The 3rd degree you get is dreadful - why do you want to cancel / can you just pay for your favourites / don't you love us any more [sob]! I was starting to get ratty by the time the guy finally agreed to cancel it. I told him dh had already cancelled the direct debit so he said to call & pay by card before my last payment was due. Two days later we got a letter telling us how disappointed they were with us (WTF?) and another telling us when our payment was due & adding a £4 invoice charge. We had sky years ago in our flat & cancelled it when we moved here 'cos they wanted £100 to move the dish. They're a bunch of money-grabbing bar-stewards & they won't be getting my cash again - especially since my dad works for them & has been stressing for months 'cos they're sacking a load of employees at his level

Plus we had freeview before we got the sky installed (it was a pressie from my dad) & the mix of free channels on freeview was better anyway!

if you want free sky+, all you have to do is call them up to say you want to cancel as you work a lot and have no time to watch programmes. i did this and had my sky + installed last week. theres is no subscription fee as theyre stopping that from july and no installation fee either.

you cant be in a 12 month contract though to do this.

RubberDuck · 13/06/2007 10:48

We've just rejoined and got a free sky+ box, free installation, no subscription for the sky+ bit and half price channels for 3 months... I think they're turning the sky+ boxes into the "standard" box.

gimmiegimmie · 14/06/2007 00:24

Oh prettymum where were you a few days ago.......... Dont think i'll get away with that now
I feel like everyone is getting a far better deal than me lately - my dad has been offered down town something like full sky (their 6box package) for £15mth then with broadband and a + box it worked out about £20 - £25mth !!!!!!!
So unfare for us that pay £15 just for the 2box package, you know the lowest package. Then i pay someone else for my broadband
