Internet security trial expired is there free virus protection and where?

My free trial to windows onecare has expired and i need to get some other protection quick! I've heard there is free protection you can download rather than paying for a service but where?

I use AVG and it's free.

avast is not only free but also very good

AVG is free and one of the best packages around.

You can also get AVG anti spyware edition which is all bells and whistles for 30 days then needs either paying for or you could just live with it as is. The only difference is that you have to scan for spyware manually as the shield is part of the paid package.

Still both extremely good packages. I've used most of the free anti virus software out there and to be honest AVG ticks all the boxes you need.
