Had a virus(now gone) and have lost my task manager.........how do I get it back?

have you tried turning it off and on again

If you rightclick on teh toolbar at teh bottom is task manager on the list. Can you get it to come up?

sounds like task manager has been deleted totally then - but I wouldn't have thought it could finction w/o it...hang on just going to check something else...

If you go to 'help and support' on start menu
Search for "task manager" - select the article entitled "task manager" or something similar. Within that article there is a link to "open task manager" - does that open task manager?

i haven't got it. it tells me to use the windows xp disc..........but i didn't get one with pc.

If teh PC was supplied new you should have got the disk with it for exactly this tyoe of instance - and I thinkit needs to be the same disk as did the initial install because of the secruity and lisence numbers and stuff. I am afraid this is a bit more than I help you with though...

thanks for all your hel. as luck would have it i took a 5 yr plan out with them

just wanted to say thanks again at least I know what the problem is now and how to fix it. in the cold light of day realised that pc world would think i was mad asking for the disc 18months later but have sorted that bit iynwim so fingers crossed I will get it done in a day or two.

i have got it back. turns out virus was still there. and I needed to change my settings on norton auto proyect to quarantine if it can remove
