One for hub2dee, I think - if he is lurking and not off photographing.
I have Tiger, should I upgrade to Leopard? Just had a sneak peek at Apple's website. Anyone have any opinions?

I did cause work demanded it
Dashboard is good
the 'find' in finder is worse
slightly less stable

not worth it if you have to pay IMO

Gingerbear · 15/05/2007 19:53

ah, so there will probably be lots of fixes and teething troubles to iron out for a while.
Think I'll stick with tiger.

dh doesnt think it comes out til october,.... but we could be getting confused with all these big cats..

MrsBadger · 15/05/2007 21:46

trying to think what the hell I have then
panther?
will check tomorrow - we are an all-Mac lab so someone is sure to have an opinion

MrsBadger · 16/05/2007 09:55

aha
seems I went from 10.4 (vanilla Tiger) to 10.4.9 (Tiger with knobs on)
good enough for me at the moment

one of the geeks has (I think) a beta of 10.5 but just grunts about it so assume it can't be much to shout about.

Gingerbear · 16/05/2007 10:13

Ah, I am a Tiger 10.4.8 - so not quite so many knobs on as yours MrsB.

Leopard's release has been put back because of the focus on the iPhone and getting that out by the summer. It should now ship in the third quarter of the year, but I'd leave it until after Christmas before upgrading - then any bugs will have been dealt with by software upgrades.

thanks BITBBH.

my G4 PB is part of the family. Although DD and DS know that "Daddies Computer" is not the one for doing CBeebies on...that delight is saved for the nasty old PC at the top of the house.

I feel dirty even talking about a new iMac - but I need one to run the new CS optimally and get the business properly off the ground, so I'm going to have to break it to the PB gently ("It's not you, it's me" etc) - but I've got a while to think of the right words as the new models shouldn't appear pre-Leopard I don't think.
