Cheap as possible, obviously, because whilst this is "only" for mummies and toddlers (ie me and DS during the day - playing/cooking etc).. it will make my life brilliant....

but I'm spending hard saved ISA on it, so please let me know if the really cheap ones are OK for things like teletubbies and neighbours
Thank you!

All my stuff is cheap Tesco/Asda versions.

Have an Asda DVD recorder which I would really recommend was £69ish very easy to use

Get them used off www.gumtree.com.

Try freecycle. You never know, models change so fast and so many people like to keep up with the trends.

When you say 'like a pc monitor' I assume you are meaning plasma or lcd. If so, they sometimes come with built-in freeview, so you wouldn't need a seperate box. Plasma and LCD look fairly similar to most people, but there are some slight differences. For example, plasma is better if you are looking at it from an angle or watching it in the dark. It isn't cheap getting all this equipment. You may need to upgrade your aerial to get the freeview channels. (As for DVD recorders, they can be picked up very reasonably in supermarkets etc.)

All good stuff - many thanks!!
PS Yes, I know it could be expensive, but at one end of hte spectrum, I've just found a tv./dvd all in one, that's £150... which is not what I was expecting.. I hoped to keep it under £300 - it's just for a 15" job or similar............
