How spooky - I was about to start a thread about this. Wanted to ask if anyone had it and were getting the same shit runaround that we are getting.
Or if it's just us!
Have had a week without any internet access because our old one finished as per arrangement (with Sky) and they had not yet sent us the new router thingy we needed despite being told 10 previously that it was on the way. Got a nice little message that announced our SKY broadband was live tho. We rang and complained and were told that they only dispatch them once the account goes live (FFS!) and that it would be 3-4 working days. No mention of break in service in any of the bumpf. DH rang back next day to see if they could give us settings for our existing router so we could use that in the interim period. Tech services not interested. Finally got the Cust Services manager on the phone who agreed that Tech people were being over-zealous with the rules, and confirmed that our router had been dispatched to us that day (as opposed to 2 days previously that we had been told by another muppet) and it takes a minimum of 5 working days to arrive.
DH lost the plot rather at this point as we use the internet and email for a lot of things other than MN! This did result in us getting our first month's charges waived, which should just about cover the call charges to Sky - 8p/min and dh was on for 40 mins for one call.
So now - obviously we have received the router (or I wouldn't be here!) but we still haven't managed to get the email working. Sky want to reset the account - which will take another 5 working days!
We have the multi package - broadband/phone/tv, but are seriously considering sending the whole shebang back to them. Including the mess that the engineer left when installing the dish......

Anyone else having problems with Sky?

Bamzooki, sorry to hear you're having problems, we have sky tv and have been thinking about getting broadband too. Dh heard that their upload speeds are v slow, we both upload a fair bit, so I'm keen to know what you think.

Bamzooki · 06/05/2007 13:54

To be honest we haven't got as far as doing any uploading etc just yet. Still really fighting with the email thing asthat is the biggest bugbear right now. Will let you know as and when I do!

Thanks, my experience of them with tv hasn't been great, but they do happily refund you for the long calls and often the odd months package, so don't let them get away with anything. Also, I've found that if you tell them you're broke and can't afford to keep the package you're on they always offer it for half price for three months.
