error 12002??

my computer connects to the internet but i can't get on any websites. it says the internet has timed out and there is error 12002. how can i fix it?

do you get it for every website ?

It means there is a problem on the network between your machine and the web server - and it is being timed out before managing to connect.

If it is just one site then it is probably a probelm at their end, if all sites then more likely a problem with yours. But if that is the case you would probably have other connection problems - eg email etc.

i cant get on any websites. the only thing i can get onto is msn, that's how i know i am connected to the website and i also did the ping test thing which said i was.

so how are you on mumsnet then?

nope. is that the yahoo ip. someone else told me to try that yesterday.

Yes. It's Yahoo. Thought it might be a DNS problem.
Presume you've done ipconfig/all etc...?

Open a command prompt. Assuming this is Win 2000 or XP, go to Start> Run..., type cmd then hit "Enter". Then type

nslookup mumsnet.com

Does it resolve?

This is what I get:

Server: dnsblah.blah (my DNS server)
Address: 1XX.XXX.XXX.XXX (my IP address)
