Geeky stuff

everything is BLUE - how do I adjust my monitor?

I have just been given (via freecycle) a monitor which I have plugged into my Apple laptop cos the screen is fecked

however everything is blue

this is a problem with the monitor not the laptop cos it's fine on the laptop (I can see the screen but only if it's practically closed )

is there a way to adjust the screen settings? I have never had a monitor before. I have three little buttons - a , and a button, if I press the latter I get a very odd little manual menu but I don't know what to do

heeeeellllllp

The two arrow buttons should let you navigate through the menu. Pressing I again on a menu item will select it and let you change its settings.

That's how mine works anyhoo...

I have tried them all and it is still blue

is something wrong with it? it looks like I am missing red in rgb or something

not that I know anything about monitors

I only understand it if a printer has done it on a bit of paper

eg my little face is dark yellow

not red at all

Ah... reckon it's got a duff connection at the back then. Check the cable and the sockets for bent, broken or missing pins.

Cappuccino · 24/04/2007 22:16

everything looks fine

maybe will get used to the blue

Think of it as being like Oz. Or something.

Cappuccino · 24/04/2007 22:20

tis true MI

also it is a karmic message telling me not to be

looks so much better since I have lost my red

(sorry have been meaning to email you to say hello but have only just got proper visibility back tonight. Previously I have been reduced to peering at the screen - which only works if opened to less than 45 degrees) while crouching on the floor)

My monitor at work went like this - there was something wrong with the monitor (basically it was v old) and they had to chuck it away in the end. It had totally lost all ability to display red iyswim, so there was no way to adjust it back.

Sorry... maybe your does not have the same problem but it sounds the same!

Cappuccino · 24/04/2007 22:32

hmm

it was free

so I can't complain

I mean last week I couldn't read anything if I was sitting up straight

so I'm better off than I was

Maybe it's like seeing the world through rose tinted glasses - perhaps you'll get a whole new perspective on life?

When my monitor went ping I found a weird side effect was that after spending all day in front of a blue world, everything looked very warm and rosy when I went outside!

Cappuccino · 24/04/2007 22:42

This is exactly the kind of attitude I need.

Am much cheerier

for a start the battery won't charge

and somehow I burnt a hole in the power cable [how?]

and then the hinge has gone and therefore the screen

now I am connected up to a dodgy old pc monitor, an elderly apple keyboard and a borrowed power cable

it is in the corner, being the hard drive, with its little face bowed

Cappuccino · 24/04/2007 22:53

oh lapin I don't know I don't understand

you are really really helpful but I just need to go to bed now

and drown in my own tears

Did you try kevlarhead's suggestion about the pins in the connector? We had a blue whiteboard at school & it was just that one of the pins was a bit bent & wasn't connecting - you can bend it straight with your fingernail or a thin screwdriver ( make sure it's not plugged in first)

Cappuccino · 24/04/2007 22:54

it says relisys

this is all the information I can find

I really do have to go to bed now

dh is away and the kids are going to wake up in - SHITE - six hours
