Laptop recycle bin

Trying to have a clear out. Deleting file but they aren't ending up in the recycle bin, where could they be going to

Also, sometimes when I shut down laptop, other than switching off the on/off switch it insists on updating before it will shut down. What the fig is it up to.

File deletion: It's possible the file is too big for the recycle bin, and is therefore being deleted directly.

Updating: This is quite normal - my systems do that from time to time. It's just part of keeping your OS up to date and patched.
