How do you set up a blog?

I have a 4-month old DD and would like to keep distant relatives up to date with her life and progress. I thought it might be nice to do this by setting up a blog that they can access. I have broadband access at home, and use the net for browsing MN and shopping, but have no other knowledge? I would be grateful if someone could advise me how I could set one up? Do you have to pay? Do you need any special programs? (Sorry if these questions are a bit basic).

Blogger

Easy as falling off a log

I use \link(wordpress.org/WordPress}

It's free and there are step by step instructions on how to set one up when you click on the link from the homepage.

Blogger, Blogspot, Livejournal and a whole host of other sites offer free blogs, google "Free blog" and see what you can find

Blogger is really easy. I use it for a couple of things, and find it very easy.

You can also use a wiki, which will allow it to be a two way thing, your family could keep you up to date on their stuff too.

Try wikispaces.com they offer a free service if you don't mind the ads

You can have multiple (verified) users on a blog, too. A wiki is open to anyone, I think?

no, you can make it private, open or protected.

Protected means anyone can view, but only members can post of edit
