I've spent all day titting about with this shit Hmm

I don't even want a website but I HAVE to have one to apply to do this pop up shop thing I want to do a craft stall at. It's not an option to leave the field blank.

So:

  1. The domain name I want is available
  1. Every domain name seller I go to has 'special deals' at £3 a month - 'FREE DOMAINS!' With hosting but you have to sign up and sell your soul for decades

I've 'designed' the website using Wix (nice and easy) - it's given me the option to use my own domain name so I need to buy one with hosting.

There MUST be a cheap way to do this

1&1 or Mr Site?

Lots of "registrar's" who you can get the domain name through (I use 1&1, they're OK) but I'd be inclined to pay the £2 fee for the first 2 years, rather than do it through a free one.

You can shop around when it's about to expire because it goes up to about £7/year then.

Do you understand the difference between having a domain name and having hosting space?

DOH, sorry, missed your last sentence about hosting.

I think so - am I right I buy the domain name (the one I choose) and then pay for it to be 'live' hosted on the internet?

We use Fast2Host

Can you not use your facebook page (if you have one) - or set up a business page on there and use that? I use mine a lot and get more from that than I do from my website.

You also get a couple of hundred email addresses.
