Do Facebook messages deliver if your phone is off?

I'm new back to Facebook and have both the Facebook and the messenger apps. Iv seen that when you send a message, it will say delivered with a tick in a circle and then you can see if it's been read and the circle turns into the other persons profile picture. If you send a message, will it still say delivered if someone's phone is off?

If their phone is off it will display an empty white circle (not sent) then a blue tick in a white circle (sent but not received), then when they turn on their phone it will turn into a white tick in a blue circle (received but not seen) and then when they see it, it shows their profile picture.

Ok so it is like text messages that the Fb messages will only say delivered to a switched on phone?

It just got me wondering as a friend of mines mobile isn't working at the moment but the message iv sent said delivered?

The message can be picked up on any device - so they might have logged into their facebook account on a tablet or PC

Ah! I thought you only got the message through the app as someone said if you don't have the app it's very long winded to get them otherwise?? So if it's delivered it doesn't matter wether their mobile is working or not?

Yes the Facebook servers store it and you get it everywhere you are logged on. All the app is is a window onto their web services back end.

Thank you. Why do they sometimes take ages to deliver then? I replied to a message straight away that my aunt sent me and it still hasn't delivered?

Your aunt may have her phone switched off. Otherwise delivery should be in minutes at most

don't forget FB plays silly buggers sometimes....a friend messaged me last night at eight and there was nothing on fb at all....I only spotted she had messaged as I picked up my phone to put it on charge and it was showing on there.

I reckon they are up to something!

Does text deliver in messenger if the persons data is turned off, Or it just says sent??

my phone is not on because the glass is broken so i will replace it, sorry about that i can be very clumsy. He, He, i will fix it when it arrives.
