Vista upgrade - is it worth the hassle?

Hi,

we bought a laptop back in December and are entitled to an upgrade to Vista.

We only have till the end of March to send the paperwork in.

Is it worth the hassle?

If it is, what is the best way to do it? We have a Toshiba, and it seems you have to fill out a form, post it to Germany, include the receipt and "original product box top".

What do they mean by that? DO they mean for the computer, or for the software already on the computer?

Does Vista work on laptops anyway?

Thanks for any help / advice!

I wont be getting Vista until the 1st service pack is released at the earliest. It's bound to be full of problems at the moment.

Lots and lots of software doesn't quite work properly on it yet. There will be masses of patches and updates to come. DH has had to put it on his PC for work and it is a bit of a nightmare tbh. We are having to use the XP laptop to do some things still.

Thx for your responses. I was getting confused on the moduslink site about the "reseller". I thought they meant the retailer, but they actually meant the brand or make.

It will come on a disk in 4 - 6 weeks, so we can decide then if we want to risk causing ourselves all the hassles!

Thx again,

Microsoft rush these things out then ALWAYS have loads of problems - give it a few months till they've got it working properly!
