I used to be able to use my mouse to highlight text to copy it from emails. Now I can't, the mouse won't highlight the text. It does, however, work in everything else.

Anyone know what's going on?

Curious. Can you copy in your word processing application? Did you change your OE to read plain text from HTML? Did you install sandbox utilities recently? Have you tried detaching the mouse, reattaching it and then rebooting windoze?

See if a techie friend has another mouse for you to try. If the same thing happens, it is definitely not the mouse causing the issue.

Are you running a genuine licensed copy of windows, MS can make life hell if you're not.

Do you get this issue in any other MS applications?

No, only happens on OExpress

I've not installed anything recently either.

It's probably not a hardware problem (ie your mouse) but a driver or interaction problem. If you haven't changed anything then it could be that you've had an update on windoze which has buggered up your mouse drivers.

Is it a smart mouse (ie does it have a wheel or did it come with a disc)? If so you may need to reinstall it. Is it a logitech one? If so download the drivers from their website.

Also try unplugging the mouse, then replug it in and reboot.

What version of windoze are you on?
