I have about 3/4 years worth of photos on my phone and I have no storage left... I have an iCloud account but I want to wipe off say 2/3 years to make room on my phone.... what's the safest way to do this as I don't want to lose the photos and I worry iCloud isn't that safe?

Tia

So.... if I download an app on my phone (let's say photobox or whichever one) I then download the same app from my windows laptop.. the photos will download from my phone to the app.... tbey will be saved to the 'photobox account' as apposed to the actual device (my laptop)?

Download the google photos app to your phone. When you open it it will ask you to enter or set up a new google account. It'll give you some options (e.g. unlimited free storage of photos in a compressed format or pay for storage to keep photos at high resolution, and if you want your phone to back up photos automatically)

When you open the app the assistant tab shows you which photos are still to back up, and will offer you the option to delete backed up photos from your phone

You can access the photos via the app (which has a great search function), from logging in to your google account from any website, or also you can install google drive as an application on any computer if you wish

Ok thanks. If you use google photos, can you download the photos from that to a memory stick?

But if you set up iCloud properly, the images are all saved in the cloud, not on your phone?
I have 15000 photos in iCloud taking up 150gb but the amount of storage used on my phone is only 4gb. See photo for settings
I can see the photos on my phone (ie if I click on one, it downloads it from the cloud) but the original copy is held in the cloud

On my iCloud it says I have 45 gb available but on my phone storage it says I only have 140 gb left an my 16 storage is basically nearly used up and I don't have loads of apps..

When I plug my phone into my mac my photos are also automatically uploaded to dropbox. Don't have to do anything and they don't get deleted by anything else I do.

Ok... so I'm downloading google photo app. How safe is it? You know how many websites get attacked or whatever, what's the chances of losing all the photos etc? I have 3 years worth on my phone of my kids etc that I don't want to risk losing?

Hello. Quick question. I have after reading this thread backed everything up to google photos. What is the best service to use for printing in bulk?
