PC's USBs ports not working

Not this PC, but my old one, works ok, but the USBs are not working so we can't plug in anything that needs a USB. I really want to sort it out for my DS who has cerebral palsy so he can do his school work on it. Anyone know how to sort this? I have lots of photos on it so don't want to reset the whole thing if possible.

The only thing I can think of is to make sure the machine is off before you plug anything in.

Sometimes if the PC is on, it won't recognise you have utilised a USB port.

We tried that, the ports still aren't working, it just doesn't reconize any of the ports.

I don't know then....sorry! Have you tried troubleshooting?

Dh has tried lots of stuff, lol. It was working ok, and then suddenly stopped working, the power supply had gone. Dh mananged to get a new power supply and got the PC running, but the USBs just don't want to know
