Digital camera and printer dock - not working!

I've got an HP digital camera and printer dock (Photosmart 420) which is supposed to charge the camera batteries when it's docked... but it doesn't (and yes, it is plugged in -grin])
Any ideas?

Check the cable, had a similar problem and my bloody cat had chewed through it
Checked everything else electrical and the stupid animal has chewed just about everything! Good excuse not to do the ironing

If you've an old toothbrush, try cleaning the docking plugs, may-be some grot has got in?

The camera works ok on the dock - printing etc so I think the cables are ok (if I had a cat I would be trying to persuade it to chew through the iron though ) but will dig out a toothbrush and give it a try.
