ScummyMummy · 18/02/2007 00:45

Have you clicked to disconnect it, pann? Either by right clicking the icon on your desktop or the small symbol in itunes?

ScummyMummy · 18/02/2007 00:45

lol gm!

Pann · 18/02/2007 00:46

Oh DS2's does this, Pann.

It doesn't seem to mind if you switch the PC off for a bit and switch it on again - eventually it will say update complete, OK to disconnect. So just leave it.

(His is currently connected - the screen says OK to disconnect, the ipod says charging. So I will leave it plugged in.)(he is asleep.)

Pann · 18/02/2007 00:46

wouldn't that 'do' something bad, if it's telling me to not disconnect???

I don't know a lot about this, but when my daughters i-pod says this, there is an icon on the bar at the bottom of the pc screen that says something like 'safe removal of device' or similar. If you click on it it says that you can safely disconnect - you then can disconnect the i-pod.

Pann · 18/02/2007 00:50

oh i-bollocks to it!

It's getting the big heave-ho!..........

thanks all, even gm.

Pann · 18/02/2007 01:14

OP posts:
JanH · 18/02/2007 01:18

Pann, unless you actually need it right now, just leave it connected until you do.

Pann · 18/02/2007 01:19

I'm always unplugging mine when it says do not disconnect. It's happened a couple of times with mine where it seems to be updating for ever so I just pull it out. Never done it any harm

Pann · 18/02/2007 13:02

Thank you for all this. I was also syncing my i-pod with this, and another previous computer which it was originally linked to. Some tunes were 'lost' but it is much more straightforward now.

And loving the photo bit as well!! Clever little things, n'est-ce pas???

we disconnected once during this, stuffed the whole thing up and dh ended up getting sent a new one as it corrupted the software.
