Dimwit question re DVD regions and portable DVD players, please help clarify, please please look

Here's the question
Have got a region 2 DVD player, plus region 2 DVDs, which play in UK , and will definitely play in Europe, BUT when we fly to India, will the DVD player stop working once we leave Region 2 and enter a different region, or will it be ok because the dvds we have are region 2?

Phew, a least I have got 4 hours of flight covered adn also relaxation time in hotel in india covered.
You hvae put my mind at rest thanks so much, must really go and sort out packing now.Don't know what I'm going to do with internet access for 12 days however.
May require IT resuscitation on return to UK

I have a mutli-region DVD player but the DVDs players regions are only set at the factory, there isn't a signal or anything

Thats what I though made the most sense, but I was torturing myself that in some way , it was controlled by satellite systems
