Help! All the tabs at the top of IE have disappeared!

I think the cats did it ... they do like to sit on the laptop when I'm not looking. Now there are no 'page tabs' at the top of my IE page and the icons at the bottom have gone too. The taps at the top reappear when I hover the cursor right at the top of the screen, but then disappear again. I have tried all the F keys in turn, although maybe not all the combinations with SHIFT, ALT, etc.
Does anyone know how I can get it back to normal?

Try CTRL and F1, may have totally misremembered though.

Yay! Control and F1 gets you a new window and help ... F11 and fn did it. I really was sure I had tried everything .... Thank you so much. It was driving me mad!
