Word help! Every line of text is in an invisible row of a table??

Please help me, I have googled but finding it really hard to find an answer!

Someone has sent me a 15 page Word document. The thing is that every line or short paragraph of text appears to be in some kind of invisible table or grid box. For example, if I try to put on Line numbers, it only starts right at the bottom, under the text.

How do I get all this text out of this invisible table? I will do anything!!
