I have a rather old HP printer /scanner. The scanner stopped working ages ago despite reinstalling the drivers eleventy million times. Now it won't print since I put a new cartridge in, I've been through the clean, intermediate ckean, prime, and nowt nada zilch.

So, new one. Don't want to spend a fortune, would like something I can get not too expensive ink for. Don't need super quality printing, doesn't need to be fast or quiet, I don't print vast amounts.

Any suggestions? Wireless would be good but not essential.

Hey, is your PC/Laptop running Windows XP or one of the newer versions (7/8/10)?

If its one of the newer operating systems then read below, if not ill look for you and see if XP compatibility on any of the current safe bets is available.

If its just general printing with the odd photograph then this WiFi Epson is a great bet: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01433ZT0K/ref=psdc_430585031_t1_B00EVRT7CK

Looking at about £12-18 for a replacement set of cartridges and they are super common to find so should hopefully be available for many years to come.

Downsides to the printer are the way it feeds the paper in and out which means keeping it loaded can be a bit of a pain, but if its occasional printing you wont mind spending 20 seconds putting the paper in before you print for the £20-30 you save over a model with an integrated tray but similar print quality and running costs.

There are a couple of nice Canon models that have very slightly better text print quality that I have seen, but the increase in their running costs for just occasional printing would certainly not be worth it.

I'm using Windows 10. I really miss being able to use Chrome properly.

Thanjs, I'll have a look. Loading paper when I need it isn't a problem.

Whats the problem you have running Chrome on Windows 10?

SecretSpy · 24/05/2016 15:34

Since I installed 10, my chrome icon/shirtcut keeps disappearing and I've really struggled to reinstall it. A Google tells me it's not just me, but it's really annoying. Mainly because it had my day to day passwords and bookmarks saved.

If you logged into the browser with an account the details will be backed up to Google's cloud, have you tried uninstalling it and re-installing the 64bit edition?

Great to hear, I know from personal experience that some of the teething issues upgrading to 10 can be a little annoying at first.
