does anyone else swap around the batteries in the TV remote?

Everytime my TV remote stops working I just take the batteries out and put them back in but the other way round and eh voila it works again! I've done this for a number of weeks now.

and so far i've never put fresh batteries in and the TV is about 15 months old. would love to know what the record is!

Putting them back in the same slots is often just as effective, or if that doesn't work you can give them a quick rub with a (dry) green scrubbing cloth or anything else slightly abrasive. The batteries accumulate deposits while they work which can disrupt the flow of the current and moving the batteries against the contacts scrapes some of it off. (that's my rendering of my brother's rather more technical explanation - I just know it works)
