Will the price of the iphone 6 go down much if at all when the new one comes out?

I was looking at getting an iphone 6 through EE at about £139 upfront cost and £25 a month-if it does go down, is it likely to be the upfront cost or the monthly tarrif that goes down?

Wow, really! I'm amazed that people can afford to keep replacing them if the price is always going up??

I work with a real geek who buys the new one every year. He sells the old one which part funds the new one, so not exactly full price. He always uses a really good case and screen protector.

Even if you don't look after them, they have a really good resale value.

I tend to stay about 12 to 18 months behind the curve.

Reason being it is old tech but new stuff to me but I pay a fraction of the original cost

The iPhone 6 has already gone down in price, if you buy the handset sim-free from Apple or John Lewis. The price went down the day after the 6s was annouced. It's now £459 for the 16GB model or £539 for the 64GB model.
If you can afford to buy the handset outright, it works out much cheaper in the long run, as you can get a sim-only deal for around £10-£15 / month (depending on the data and minutes you use). If you don't have £459/£539 in cash, consider buying the handset with a 0% interest credit card, as it would still work out cheaper than getting the phone on a monthly contract.
Having said that, there might be some better pay monthly deals for the iPhone 6 after the 6S is actually released (Tesco Mobile are usually quite good value) if you're willing to wait and see.

Ok, well I wasn't going to do a thing until November when my ancient 4s contract ends so I'll keep an eye out and see if they'll be a little cheaper then. The chances of them going down to less than £400 is minimal then?!

You never know! Which network are you with atm? You might get a good deal if you negotiate with them. Ask to be put through to disconnections, which is basically the retentions department, and they will offer much better deals than advertised if you say you want to leave. The trick is to do your homework beforehand - check out Money Saving Expert and Tech Radar, for example - and hold your nerve!

I just upgraded from a 5c to a 6 plus because the upfront cost for the phone (64gb) has fallen to £0 with my current provider O2. I've been waiting for the new phones to arrive because I new the older ones would be a better price . ????So to answer your question, yes! The iPhone 6 is a bit cheaper upfront although there's not much of a drop in the monthly tariffs I think.

I'm with EE at the moment and to be honest-they are the best network I've ever been with. I've still got a signal in a field in the middle of nowhere when everyone else's has dropped so I would really like to stay with them.

I will try to hold my nerve and see what they offer. I'm on a comparatively low tariff (£22.99 a month) at the moment though so I'm not sure what they'll offer me-am I worth them keeping?!

FWIW I've just got an iPhone 6, like you it's an upgrade from the iPhone 4S, and it's SO much faster!
I got a sim-only contract with Three because their network is up there with ee's and because it's a good deal: £11/month for 2GB and 200mins! Happy so far.

It's a 64GB and I got it for £539 from John Lewis, because they provide a 2 year guarantee (it's only 1 year if you buy from Apple). I also used my JL Partnership credit card so I'll get 2% cash back towards vouchers, which is £10. Every little helps!
Now I need to work out how/where to sell my 4S...
