What is the point of Virgin TV Anywhere?

It will only let me watch live tv on my tv or recorded tv only when I am connected to the same wifi network as my TIVO box - so that's "TV in my house" not TV anywhere? Is that it or am I missing something?

I think you can only watch live TV for certain channels - those with the little wifi symbol against them in the TV guide (eg ITV but not BBC)?

It lets you set recordings via your phone or iPad. I found it amazing a few years ago when we were on holiday and I could set a programme to record from my phone. Very useful for such things but not for actually watching TV!
