Help! Forgotten laptop password!!

Changed laptop password whilst I lent it to a friend, got it back now and literally have no idea what I changed it to.... Is there any alternative way of getting into my user profile and getting hold of all my files?? shakes fists, cast eyes skywards towards uncaring, malevolent universe
