Laptop virus protection (partic for online banking) Mcafee or Norton?

We have two laptops. One has norton - one has mcafee. Both about to expire.
Realise that as I'll now be paying should have the same on both to make use of the multiple device contracts. But thats all I know.
My main concern is that I do online banking on one of them and really concerned about internet security in terms of that.
Does virus protection even help with that ??? (See know nothing.)

I have a number password generator for the online banking if that makes any difference. Thanks

I used free stuff. Miçrosoft have one I used which was fine. I have Apple stuff now though so don't use it.

Thanks for quick reply.
Are the free ones good enough for online banking?

My son used AVG for ages as it is free, now he uses Kaspersky which he pays for. He works in IT.
My mum & dad use AVG and do all their banking online, my daughter also used it as well when she had a Microsoft laptop (now with Apple).

Thats useful thanks will look at those.
Would still be interested re whether there are specific things need to look for in virus software if online banking (and shopping) - or if its the banks/shops own security thats important (and making sure that using https/sites with the lock on.
