IPad software won't update but I have 15gb of storage- why?

I really don't understand how the storage works but I do pay for extra storage every month.

Anyway I want to update to the 8.0 update but it won't let me as it says I need at least 7gb but iPad telling me I have 15gb available!

Can anyone help?

It's the storage on your machine, not in the remote apple 'cloud' (that you pay for monthly) that's causing problems. Either delete stuff (mine was mainly photos) until you have enough space (make sure the are saved to your apple storage) OR connect it to a PC with iTunes on. If you do this you won't need the space on your iPhone to download the software, as it does it through your PC.

Oh and you might have 15g in total, but you may not have that much actually free. Hope I explained clearly. I have a cold and am fuzzy headed.
