oh help. my laptop won't let me open 'log in' links for MN, FB or twitter?!

It's been going on for over a week now. All I get when I try to log in anywhere is 'internet explorer cannot open the web page....diagnose connect problems etc...." .

It let's me browse MN when I'm not logged in, but as soon as I click on the 'log in' link it can't open the page. FB and Twitter don't work at all.

Any ideas what's happened? The laptop is getting creaky and crashes regularly but I can use other websites. I installed bt infinity last month and I've never upgraded my internet brower because I think it might kill off my laptop (from 2009).

Try to download and run a program called CCleaner from that link. Then use IE to download Firefox. :o

The obvious thing those have in common is that the relevant login pages are all secure. If you are using IE8 take a look at this article for some ideas on how to fix the problem.

It does let me use my secure banking website actually, but not important ones like MN .

right, it's all sorted, yay!

I cleaned all the cookies and history and downloaded firefox. Hopefully it's a permanent improvment.
