please help with my AOC monitor!

In short, stupidly let dd "work" on my laptop attached to AOC monitor. Within seconds, she clearly hit some dodgy key and now the picture on the laptop doesn't show. I get a grey screen, but I do get the samsung logo from the laptop showing something is getting through. When i hit the menu keys it does something like a reboot with no success

AOC customer services are useless, so is the manual which is impenetrable to non geeks - and I don't think contains the solution anyway. Can anyone help? I am sure it's something tiny that needs adjusting but I get terrible backache working on a laptop so am on the verge of having to buy a new monitor for what I'm sure is easily solvable

Your dd probably hit the Function key that sends the signal to the monitor. On my Toshiba it is F5. It could be F7 or F8. Check the symbols on the Function keys and give it a go. Good luck!

Ludicrous that AOC were saying just send it back (couldn't do, had lost the receipt) and we'll replace it. I knew it was something solvable.
