I'm coming to the end of my phone contract with Orange and am due a free upgrade on the 21st (contract actually ends 5 November). While I'm relatively happy with the service, I've been having issues with the phone and am not sure if they're down to the handset nearing the end of its life or if there are problems with Orange/EE.
Consequently I don't want to leap into another upgrade this month and tie myself to them for another 24 months, and was wondering if MNers could recommend a good deal/network/phone for my needs?
I've currently got a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. It's ok, but I find the camera extremely user unfriendly and can't zoom on the camera, despite them saying all I have to do is tap the screen - it just doesn't work. Also it is getting slower and slower, loses charge very quickly, will turn itself off (despite being fully charged) and then refuse to recognise the network when I turn it back on/take a good 10 minutes to dial a number/connect to dialing, which is very frustrating. It also seems to be 'saving' my incoming texts and then delivering them all at once a few hours later, unless I'm initiating the text exchange. As I said before, I don't know if this is the phone slowly dying or a problem with EE, but it's very frustrating!
I'm currently on a Panther 26 plan, I get unlimited texts, 200 minutes talktime and 750MB internet browsing/tethering. While I never go over my minutes, I do use up the data allowance very quickly, as I find I'm using my phone a lot more these days when on the move for email/FB/MN and kindle books.
Never had an IPhone, I'm a bit suspicious of them as I don't like the sealed battery thing, nor the non-compatibility issues, and I do like the Android system. Not particularly wedded to Samsung, although I quite like that I have the ability to control our telly via my phone if I so choose! :o
I've read a few websites and browsed through some literature in the O2 shop, and came out looking like this --->
So, lovely MNers, please help a technophobe and share your recommendations for a new phone and a decent supplier! :o
