Help please with present - to transfer camcorder video to dvd to play on tv

I'm struggling to make a present for someone from some camcorder recordings.

I've transferred them to PC and then onto DVD but it will then only play on PC and not on TV (which is what I want for the present.)
Does anyone know what else I need to do.
(Ive got windows DVD maker on the PC.)
