Connecting iPhone to tv?

I would be grateful for some help please.

I have the amazon instant video app on my iPhone. How do I connect my phone to my tv so I can stream directly to the tv instead of my phone?

Is it as simple as an hdmi cable or do I need chrome cast or similar? I don't have a smart tv.

You need to get Apple TV

I think there's a dodgy way of doing it but not sure how complicated it is.

www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5323249.htm?CMPID=GS001&_$ja=cgid:8710523462|tsid:41408|cid:177977342|lid:47487061382|nw:g|crid:38920287422|rnd:2482354620045827704|dvc:c|adp:1o2

Its a box you plug into your TV. Then you can 'airplay' all your stuff from your iphone to your TV.

It also comes with youtube, netflix app etc.

Not sure if you can stream apps from your iphone though. You can do it from an ipad, not sure about iphone.

Thanks. Just found an apple AV digital adaptor for £35 - wonder if that might do the trick?

Otherwise the Apple TV at £79 is the link above - thank you!

You can't stream from Amazon instant vid to Apple TV, it's blocked. It's up to the app creator to decide if the user should be able to push content to Apple TV, and Amazon have disabled this feature.

That's how it was when I trice the same a month ago. You might have better luck with the cable.

There is a work around using a 'parrot' app I know nothing about!

Streaming from Amazon Instant Video iPad app to Apple TV works, I do that. So good chance it will work on iPhone.

Looking at iTunes: Amazon Instant Video it says:

Watch on your Apple TV using AirPlay (requires iOS 6+ and Apple TV 2nd Generation or later)
Watch on your TV using HDMI and your Apple Digital AV Adapter (requires iOS 6+)

iTunes is saying it's the same app for iPhone and iPad, so I would assume that the current App does allow you to AirPlay or use TV Adapter, as long as you are running iOS 6 or above.

Best though if someone could confirm it works on iPhone - alwayssleepy, give it another go with the latest version.
