Passing old smartphone to 8yo DD, what do I need to do?

I've upgraded my Nokia Lumia and I'm thinking about giving the old one to my 8yo for games & music etc, but I've got loads of questions.

  1. I'd like to put some controls/parental limits on the internet/email aspect, how do I do that? I've deinstalled virtually everything I can but I can't get rid of the basic Windows packages including Explorer.
  2. Who is paying for data usage, where will she get it from (honestly, this is how thick I am about this sort of thing Confused)? The contract on that phone's expired, I have a new contract on a different phone, I don't understand where she'll get her data from.
  3. If I leave Spotify installed on it, will it just replicate whatever's on my account or will she be able to (horrors!) add and delete stuff that will affect my main account?
  4. Is it just a really crap idea to pass this on to a child? Thanks for reading this far...

What do you want her to be able to do/access?

Mainly just games and music really. Other option (if possible) would be to download the games and somehow cut off any internet access, think she'd still be happy with that.

well with regard to data, you can turn off the mobile data in settings, under mobile network, and just leave the WiFi connected. that way she can still make phone calls (if you want her to?) but can't access the mobile internet.

no idea about spotify sorry.

Thanks MyMelody, will fiddle with the settings. Bit worried because she's a smart girl, think it might not be such a good idea to pass it on. If I make it "forget" the wifi password that might help too.
