Basically I want to be able to go out and either check in on the dogs and tell the pup the settle down if he is being noisy - or even better, set the camera up to send an alert if he gets noisy beyond a certain level, so I can check in and either tell him to settle down or get home asap if not. Basically, I'm planning to use it as part of a behavioural programme to gradually extend the length of time my pup can be left home without starting to make a racket.

Dh is fairly techy, as is ds1, so they can handle the set up and port forwarding stuff etc and we're fully aware of the security issues and know we need to makes sure the camera is fully secured with a unique password etc.

I'm just a bit confused as to which is the best camera for the job. Ideally I'd want pan and tilt, 2 way audio - that actually works (I've heard this bit is often flaky, but is crucial to my needs, so I can talk back, as one of my dogs has a degree of separation anxiety and that's why I need the camera in the first place). I also need to be able to access it via both my macbook and android phone, but it's most important that I can do it via my phone.

I think the best ones in a reasonable-ish price range (ideally want to keep this under £100) are either:

Foscam FI9831W

or the considerably cheaper FI8918w which seems ok too. Confused

I've also heard/read that buying direct from Foscam UK is the best way forward, as then you get full UK based tech support.

I have looked at D-Link cameras as well, but they seem more expensive for less features and dh says they had them in one of his old offices and they never seemed to work.

Am I heading along the right lines here - or am I making this far more complicated than it needs to be?

Any advice on either the camera or best set up to meet our requirements would be really appreciated.
