Internet working but can't connect to any games on any laptop.

Dd is having a meltdown and I've just realised my ipad won't connect to Hayday.

Dd has been trying to get onto MineCraft and she has a red x by all the server names which has a message saying "no connection" by all the server names. She can get on single player ok.

She's tried to go onto world of Warcraft on my laptop and it won't connect. Nor on her laptop.

Like I say my ipad won't go on Hayday.

I've turned the modem off and on several times which is the limit of my techno know how. Any ideas please?

Wow, has an error message saying error 2, unable to connect.

I know it can't be the individual games or the laptops. It must be my Internet.

Will the laptop load any websites?
Is the router displaying the correct colour lights?
Do you have a landline along side the broadband and if so is it working?

Yes laptops and ipad will go on any websites ok.

Lights are on on the router and look ok.

I have no idea if I have a landline.

Strange,beyond me I,m afraid,you need Network Guy,hopefully he may see this.Clutching at straws,do you have parental controls,could something like that block games sites?

Just had a quick google,what browser do you use.If its Internet explorer,My son had a similar problem- solved when he discovered that Internet explorer had somehow gone into "offline mode". Try checking your I.E settings Hope this helps" copied from another website."

Do you have a limit set by your ISP?

I'd say problem with Steam but if Minecraft is affected then it won't be that.

Can you play them offline?

There's no parental controls set.

We're on Internet explorer. But I don't think it can be an Internet explorer problem as its both laptops and the ipad. So it can't be the laptop setting.

I don't know if the game can be played off line as i don't think they're ever compatible with offline play. I think the error 2 wow message is a standard unable to connect one. But it doesn't tell you why you can't connect from what I've googled.

I don't think we have a limit set by our ISP. But we don't download movies or games so can't imagine we'd have reached it. Though dd is on minecraft a lot I guess.

have you tried resetting your router?

Minecraft can be run in offline mode - I can't remember how to do it though.

ah yes i see you have... try it from the plug also if you are still having problems.

What router do you have,maybe worth doing a reset,(mine you have to push a pin in a hole in the back), as nothing can connect to games sites it may be worth a try.

Just to reiterate,I dont mean just turning it on and off,I mean a hard reset,taking it back to how it was when new.

There's a Virgin super hub which is all lit up with green lights. I've pulled the wire out of it a few times to turn it off. Can't see a re set hole.

There's also another little box upstairs which is something to do with the Internet. Again that's all lit up and I've turned it on and off at the plug a few times.

Have you tried restarting the laptop since resetting the router?Feel for your dd,hope you can get it sorted.

Yes have tried the laptop off and on since then as well.

Typical that IT whizz dh is away and uncontacble by phone this weekend. Aghhhh.
