I have the lead that came with the ipad air and a socket thing that came with my dh's ipad 1 bought in the uk. can injust plug the lead into the uk adapter? Don't want to blow up my new ipad!

Btw the ipad 1 adapter says 10w USB power adapter 100-240v 0.45a 50-60 hz output 5.1v but the ipad air (bought in us with us pin socket) says 12w USB power adapter 100-240v 0.5a 50-60hz output 5.2v. Feel like I'm sitting a physics a level!!!

I understand, after the "fun" with my ipad leads, that the old charger will be slow/underpowered, but probably not unsafe.

Can you just stick the USA charger into a US-UK adaptor?

Thanks found a us adaptor (well think it is, the us plug fits) and its charging without exploding! Thanks!

They're definitely close enough to be interchangeable. Even the charge time difference would be negligible.

To add, dh and I both have degrees in electronic engineering - I'm not just guessing Grin
