Most useful apps for kindle fire?

Got a kindle fire for Christmas, previously using an ancient laptop (pc) and have a Samsung android phone.

Any suggestions for useful apps to download? Would like to be able to write on the Kindle so would need word processing software but can't work out which are just viewers and which you can create docs. Would need to be compatible with my laptop probably - unless you can show me kindles are the next big thing and i can recycle the laptop!

Would also like to get an organising app of some sort.

Tried to find a Santander app but no luck on amazon store - can I download from Google play store?

First tablet and confused! Don't want to mess it up and not use it to its full potential.

Not sure what is available on the Kindle store off hand (and no, you can't use Google Play on a Kindle) but can you see Kingsoft Office or Polaris? These will both allow Microsoft compatible documents.

Having said that, I doubt you're suddenly going to convert to typing out documents on a 7 inch tablet screen with a virtual keyboard......definitely NOT the future!
