Broken laptop key (Apple MacBook Pro)

My 10mo baby has just managed to pull a key off my Apple MacBook Pro laptop keyboard-it just snapped off, he lurched and grabbed and I wasn't quite quick enough to stop him! I guess he caught his tiny fingers under it hence why it snapped away. It's the 'up' arrow key.

Is there any easy way of putting it back on? Or will it be one of those things that seems so simple but requires the whole flipping keyboard to be replaced? From looking at it it seems that it should just click back into place but....it doesn't.

Thanks in advance

If the mechanism underneath it isn't broken, it's usually possible to "snap" it back on; put it back in its place, press down on it, and it might click into place.

However, if the mechanism has been damaged, it won't be as simple. I have a non-functioning right arrow key; I have just managed without it, and haven't bothered to investigate getting it fixed!

If you can't physically fix it there's a very cool program called Ukulele which enables you to remap the keyboard and make some other key do the job of the broken one. If it's something obscure like "]" you might not want to bother, but otherwise...

When one of mine broke off, I ordered a replacement from ebay and you tubed for instructions.. as long as you get the right key for your model it's pretty easy to do:)
