Can anyone help with an iPhone 5 problem?

I used to be able to tilt my iPhone sideways and the screen would automatically change to 'landscape mode'.

Now that doesn't work anymore, maybe because of the latest software update.

It's really annoying as I'm partially sighted and need to zoom a lot - so portrait mode only gets a few words and makes MN and other sites all but unreadable.

Is there anyone who can help with a solution? I was hoping it might just be a setting that needs changing but haven't found anything.

I didn't do the upgrade so can't be sure but have you got portrait lock on? Is there a padlock in a circular arrow at the top of the screen?

Try swiping up from the bottom of the screen, and there should be an icon which is a padlock with an arrow going around it. You may have inadvertently switched this on - it is the portrait lock mode, which stops the portrait to landscape switch.

Like Bippidee says, if your now running IOS 7, which sounds likely.

If not, and your IOS 6 and lower, double tap the home button and swipe to the right-most section and you'll find the portrait lock button there.

Thank you all! I can't see the screen well enough to find the icon but I will show this to DH tonight and see if he can find it.
